The B.F.A. in Electronic Design & Multimedia is a professional specialization in art and design for print and screen-based media, and integrates a variety of digital media into all stages of design and production. It emphasizes a foundation in the principles of basic design as the prerequisite to intensive studio practice in design and imaging for a variety of visual communications media.
The program builds skills in typography, design and imaging and visual problem-solving completely integrated into digital technology. From a base of design and imaging and digital photography studies, students can move on to print design and production courses and to courses in, motion graphics, interactive design, web design and animation, and 3D design and animation. These courses are concept, not software-driven and give students the flexibility of working in design or fine art contexts. Using the industry standards in hardware and software, students gain practice in both concept and production. Students are encouraged to gain practical experience through internships and freelance projects.
