Admissions Requirements

Admission to the B.F.A. is in addition to admission to the College. A portfolio and personal interview are required. You can download the B.F.A. application from the link on this page.

The BFA admissions advisor is Professor Ethan Ham. He can be contacted at 212 650-7409 or at eham@ccny.cuny.edu for BFA admissions or portfolio questions.

The portfolio should demonstrate aptitude; finished, professional work is not a criterion. The committee is looking for raw ability, talent and motivation.

Internal CCNY applications will not be accepted after a student has completed 72 credits overall, or 65% of credits toward the major. CCNY students must also complete 200-level courses in the major before applying to the BFA.

The BFA has a GPA requirement of 2.5.

As of FALL 2005, the B.F.A. requirements changed. Students are required to apply to the B.F.A. before applying to the College. Application deadlines are October 1st and February 15th.
